Central operating system of the weapon systems

Control of primary vehicle functions

Man-machine interface

The central control unit stands between the soldier and the primary vehicle logics as the primary man-machine interface in land-based weapons carriers. The central control unit controls safety-critical functions such as the selection and activation of weapon functions and active protection systems. This includes controlling the automatic cannon, machine gun, guided missile system and the active protection system, as well as the various types of cameras

Performance overview:

  • Designed specifically for weapons carriers
  • Developed and certified according to DIN EN IEC 61508
  • Compliance with safety requirement level SIL 2
  • Central man-machine interface
  • Control in dialogue with vehicle system logics
  • Activation of active and passive weapons systems

The plus points

Operation of active weapon functions

On-board voltage network

KNDS Deutschland Mission Electronics ensures smooth operation on the vehicle electrical system by uniformly applying VG96916 and MIL-STD-1275. This guarantees that the central control unit harmonises with the power supply system, does not negatively influence the system or take damage itself.

Qualification

The central control unit keeps out water and dust, withstands salt fog, holds up to fluctuating pressures and the extended temperature range, and reliably processes data under heavy shocks and vibrations.

EMC

An aluminium housing and special display design ensure EMC compatibility. KNDS Deutschland Mission Electronics applies various civil norms and standards as well as MIL-SPECS for this purpose.

Security

In accordance with DIN EN IEC 61508, inputs on the device are only executed when a separate system has determined that the display that led to the triggering event is correct.

Modularity

The control unit can be adapted to meet the customer’s requests and requirements in every respect, from the interfaces and memory to customer-specific functionalities.

Functions

The central control unit receives the user inputs and forwards them to the vehicle’s system logics. At the same time, it displays the information from the system logics to the user.
